As Dhanush gears up for the release of Tere Ishq Mein, the actor took a nostalgic detour to Varanasi, a city that still remembers him as Kundan, the character he played more than a decade ago in Aanand L Rai’s 2013 hit Raanjhanaa. The film, which also starred Sonam Kapoor, became one of the defining works of both actor and director, marking their first collaboration.
During his recent visit, Dhanush shared that the people of Varanasi continue to identify him by his iconic character’s name. Posting pictures from his walk through the ghats and narrow lanes of the city, he wrote, “A walk through the memory lane. Where it all started. KUNDAN. A character that refuses to let go of me, even after more than a decade. The name Kundan still echoes in the narrow lanes of Banaras as people call out to me and I still turn and smile.”

‘Now it’s time for Shankar’
Dhanush, who was accompanied by director Aanand L Rai, retraced old paths, from sitting outside familiar homes to sipping tea at the same spots he frequented during Raanjhanaa’s shoot. Reflecting on the moment, he shared, “Now walking through the same lanes, sitting in front of the same house, sipping chai from the same tea shop, and walking by the shores of the holy Ganges, with the man who gave me Kundan, feels like a full circle. Now it’s time for Shankar. Tere Ishq Mein… FROM TOM. Har Har Mahadev.”
Today he posted another snap from Raanjhanaa captioning it, "TERE ISHK MEIN - FROM TODAY. HAR HAR MAHADEV."
