Veteran producer RB Choudary dies in car accident; Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan mourn loss

Veteran film producer R. B. Choudary died in a car accident near Udaipur on Tuesday, sending shockwaves across the South Indian film industry. He was widely known as the founder of Super Good Films and was credited with backing several landmark Tamil and Telugu films over the decades.

According to reports, Choudary’s body is expected to be brought to Chennai on Wednesday.

The producer’s death prompted an outpouring of grief from actors, filmmakers and politicians across the South film fraternity, many of whom credited him for shaping careers and supporting family-oriented cinema.

Actor and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan said he was “stunned” by the news. In a post on X, he recalled working with Choudary in Suswagatham, describing him as a producer who understood stories that connected with family audiences.



“He selected stories suitable for family viewing and produced films featuring excellent songs,” Pawan Kalyan wrote while offering condolences to the producer’s family.

Superstar Rajinikanth remembered Choudary as “a wonderful human being” and praised his contribution to nurturing young directors in the film industry.



“My dear friend, Super Good Films R.B. Choudary is a top-notch producer… He has given opportunities to countless young directors and kept the film world alive,” Rajinikanth wrote.

Stars remember producer who backed several iconic films

Actor Chiranjeevi also expressed grief over the producer’s sudden demise, calling his contribution to Indian cinema “beyond words”.



“He shaped the careers of many talented directors and actors and brought countless stories to life,” Chiranjeevi said in his tribute.

Actor-politician Khushbu Sundar described Choudary as “a thorough gentleman” and one of the most respected members of the industry.



Meanwhile, actor Venkatesh Daggubati recalled his long association with Super Good Films through projects such as Suryavamsam, Raja, Seenu and Sankranti.



Over the years, RB Choudary built a reputation for producing commercially successful films with strong emotional and family-centric themes. His banner backed several popular films including Cheran Pandian, Nattamai, Poove Unakkaga, Suryavamsam, Thullatha Manamum Thullum, Aanandham, Jilla and Godfather.

His most recent project was Maareesan, featuring Vadivelu and Fahadh Faasil.

With a career spanning decades, RB Choudary remained one of the most influential producers in South Indian cinema, known for identifying talent and delivering enduring commercial hits.
