A child protection officer in Pune has raised formal concerns with the city's top police official about rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh's music and live performances, alleging that his songs glorify alcohol, drugs, and gun culture. The officer also cited the potential harm to minors attending his concerts.
According to a report by PTI, Pune district child protection officer Mangesh Jadhav wrote to Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar on Thursday. The letter followed a complaint filed by Dr Punditrao Dharenavar from Chandigarh with the Maharashtra Women and Child Development Department.
What did the letter say?
As per the PTI report, Jadhav named several songs in his letter, including One Bottle Down, Char Bottle Vodka, Manali Trance, This Party Getting Hot, Makhana, Goliyan, and Millionaire.
"Honey Singh songs such as One Bottle Down, Char Bottle Vodka, Manali Trance, This Party Getting Hot, Makhana, Goliyan, and Millionaire glorify alcohol, drugs, and gun culture. In Honey Singh’s live concerts, minors (less than 18 years) are allowed. If he sings such songs, children can get a bad impact on their mental health," Jadhav's letter said.
The letter also pointed to Singh's Mumbai show on March 28, part of his 'My Story' tour, where he allegedly used vulgar language on stage. He performed songs like Millionaire, Desi Kalakar, Mafia Mundeer, and Dope Shope at the event.
"Therefore, you are advised to ensure the content of the programme remains appropriate, socially responsible, and in conformity with child protection principles and statutory safeguards," the letter stated.
Pune concert postponed
Singh's Pune concert, originally set for April 4, has been moved to April 18. On Instagram, the singer wrote, “Despite being completely sold out for Saturday (04.04.2026), we have to reschedule the show to 18.04.2026 due to anticipated rain and thunderstorms. This decision has been made in line with the government advisory, as the safety of my fans remains the top priority. All tickets purchased will remain valid for the new date (18.04.2026).”
Fans had mixed reactions to the update on Yo Yo Honey Singh’s concert. One fan wrote, “Bro, is this real?” Another added, “Is it true?”, while another commented, “Waited 3 months… 2 more weeks, no worries @yoyohoneysingh.”
