Japan is inviting Indian researchers as a part of the LOTUS Programme 2026, for funded reasearch stays in leading universities across Japan.
The aim of this programme is said to be deepening the bilateral scientific collaboration while equipping young researchers from India with international exposure and potential career-building opportunities.

Eligibility and application guidelines
The programme is reportedly open to graduate students and postdoctoral researchers under the age of 40, who are currently affiliated with Indian universities or research institutions.
The Times of India reports say that candidates cannot apply independently. Applications must be submitted by a principal investigator based in a Japanese university or research institute, who will host the selected participant.
