After spending 12 days in custody, Rajpal Yadav has reflected on his time in Tihar Jail, emphasising how discipline and adaptability helped him navigate the experience.

Speaking in a recent vlog hosted by Farah Khan, Yadav chose not to dramatise his situation or present himself as a victim. Instead, he described life inside jail as structured and routine-driven. “I won’t say there were fans or not, but the discipline and legalities that are created for that space were thoroughly followed,” he said.

‘I have learnt to live in all kinds of conditions’

According to Yadav, everyday life in jail is predictable, with limited movement and fixed schedules. Rather than focusing on discomfort or seeking sympathy, he highlighted the importance of adapting to circumstances. “No, I have learnt to live in all kinds of conditions,” he added.

The case that led to his imprisonment dates back to a loan taken for his directorial debut Ata Pata Lapata in 2012. The film’s failure led to financial strain, and when the repayment did not go through, the matter escalated into a cheque bounce case. After spending time in jail and reportedly depositing around ₹1.5 crore, Yadav was granted interim bail.

‘This is all karma’

What stands out in his remarks is his composed and philosophical outlook. “This is all karma, and you can’t escape it,” he said, reflecting on the situation without expressing bitterness.

During this period, Yadav also received support from within the film industry. Actor Sonu Sood was among those who extended help. Acknowledging the support, Yadav said, “The entire world was standing with me.”

While he did not share specific incidents from inside jail, his remarks underline a message of discipline, acceptance, and resilience in the face of adversity.

Rajpal's legal issues began in 2018, when he and his wife were targets of multiple check-bounce lawsuits. These cases come under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, which pertains to the dishonour of cheques due to insufficiency of funds in the account or exceeding the account limit.

The couple was found guilty by a sessions court, and this decision was upheld by the Delhi High Court. The defendant in this case is M/s Murali Projects Pvt Ltd, to whom the actor owes a considerable amount.
