The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that Homebound has advanced to the next round of voting in the International Feature Film category. The Academy shared on X (formerly Twitter) that fifteen films from across the world have been shortlisted in the category.
India’s Homebound is competing alongside films from Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Norway, Palestine, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan and Tunisia. The final Oscar nominations will be announced on January 22.

Scorsese reacts to Homebound’s Oscar journey
Legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese has praised Homebound, starring Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa, saying he was “deeply moved” by its story as the film moves closer to the Oscars.
As the Neeraj Ghaywan-directed film continues its Oscar run, Martin Scorsese took to Instagram to share his thoughts. He posted a video of a conversation with the National Award-winning filmmaker and spoke warmly about the project.

“I’m very happy to be associated as an Executive Producer on Homebound (@homeboundthefilm), shortlisted in the Best International Feature category at this year’s Academy Awards,” Scorsese wrote.
“I was deeply moved by this true story of two young men whose friendship and search for dignity speak to the need for empathy and human connection in a divided world," he added.
