The makers of Mirzapur The Movie released the film's first teaser on Thursday, offering fans a glimpse into the cinematic expansion of the popular crime franchise. Directed by Gurmmeet Singh, the film is scheduled to hit theatres on September 4.
Set in 2018 during the events of the first season of the acclaimed web series, the film brings back several familiar faces, including Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi and Divyenndu, while introducing a few new twists to the story.
Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under Excel Entertainment, the film aims to take the battle for power in Mirzapur to the big screen.

Munna returns, Bablu gets a new face
One of the biggest talking points from the teaser is the return of Divyenndu's fan-favourite character Munna, despite his death in the second season of the series. Since the film's timeline is set during the first season, the teaser brings the character back into the story.
Another notable change is the recasting of Bablu Pandit. While Vikrant Massey portrayed the role in the original series, actor Jitendra Kumar steps into the character for the film adaptation.
The cast also includes Ravi Kishan, Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Dugal, Shweta Tripathi and Kulbhushan Kharbanda in key roles.
Teaser promises action and revenge
The teaser focuses on high-octane action, gunfights and the familiar world of crime, politics and revenge that made the series popular. While the makers have kept the storyline under wraps, the visuals hint at an intense battle for control of Mirzapur.
According to the official logline shared by the makers, "Mirzapur The Movie brings the world of power, revenge and survival to the big screen, as the battle for the throne of Mirzapur reaches a whole new scale." Ravi Kishan is also seen in an antagonist's role, adding another layer of conflict to the story.
