The video draws widespread attention to one of Indian cinema's most memorable monologues. The Academy captioned the post, "One thing about destiny... it doesn't miss. Film: OM SHANTI OM (2007) Directed by Farah Khan Written by Farah Khan, Mushtaq Shiekh, and Mayur Puri Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Arjun Rampal, Shreyas Talpade and Kirron Kher."
In response, Khan took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his gratitude. The actor wrote, "Thank u @TheAcademy for sending me down memory lane with Om's speech... now I truly feel like the King of the world. Ha ha."

About the 2007 film
Farah Khan directed the film and co-wrote Om Shanti Om with Mushtaq Shiekh and Mayur Puri. The film stars Shah Rukh Khan, with Deepika Padukone making her debut, along with Arjun Rampal, Shreyas Talpade, and Kirron Kher.
The story follows a junior film artist who dies attempting to rescue a famous actress. He is later reborn to seek justice against her killers. The film released in November 2007.

In 2022, Om Shanti Om marked its 15th anniversary with a theatrical re-release across 20 Indian cities along with Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata. The initiative was reportedly proposed by SRK Universe.
