On her 40th birthday, Deepika Padukone launches 'passion project' for emerging talent in film industry

Through 'OnSet', the actress hopes to empower the next generation of creative talent

Celebrating her 40th birthday on Monday (January 5) with much pomp and grandeur, Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone launched an initiative to help empower the next generation of creative talent.

About the project

The actor took to Instagram on Monday to share the exciting launch of her "passion project - OnSet". This, she says, is an "experimental learning programme for technicians across various departments wanting to build a career in Indian film, television and advertising".

"Visit onsetprogram.in, send in your work, tell us about yourself and stand a chance to work with or create with the best in the business!" state the project requirements.

Deepika said, "This past year, I’ve been feeling very strongly about identifying incredible creative talent from across the country and beyond and giving them a platform to be seen, heard and experienced. I am beyond thrilled to announce the launch of The OnSet Program and truly cannot wait to introduce all of you to the next generation of creative talent."

Project's first phase includes...

A release stated that the first phase of 'OnSet' includes departments like writing, direction, camera, lighting, editing, sound designing, art direction, costume designing, hair styling, make-up artistry and production will be available.

Initiative wins applause

Thousands of people, including actors, hailed Deepika's new project on the social media platform. Masaba Gupta commented 'incredible' while others called the move 'fantastic' and 'queen move'.
