The makers of Kalki 2898 AD have confirmed that actor Sai Pallavi is being considered for a key role in the film’s sequel, following Deepika Padukone’s exit from the project last year. However, the production team has clarified that no final decision has been taken yet.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, a representative associated with Kalki 2 said the makers are exploring Sai Pallavi for the role of SUM-80, earlier played by Deepika Padukone. “Nothing has been finalised yet. But yes, the makers are looking at Sai to play SUM-80 after Deepika’s exit. They think she’ll be a perfect fit for the role,” the source was quoted as saying. The insider also stressed that reports claiming the actor has already been finalised are incorrect and asked fans to wait for an official announcement.

At the time, the makers shared a statement on X announcing the decision to part ways, without detailing the exact reasons behind the move.
