Indian fans of Christopher Nolan are set to receive a rare advantage as advance bookings for The Odyssey open on June 8, placing them among the first audiences worldwide to secure seats for the filmmaker's latest spectacle.
The development comes amid extraordinary demand in the United States, where ticket sales for select IMAX screenings triggered website disruptions and sent resale prices soaring to as much as $1,500 on secondary platforms, according to reports.
Based on Homer's ancient Greek epic, The Odyssey marks a historic milestone for cinema as the first feature film shot entirely using IMAX cameras.

India joins first global wave of bookings
For years, Indian audiences have often had to wait for local booking windows while ticket sales opened earlier in markets such as the United States and the United Kingdom. This time, however, Indian viewers will gain access alongside major international territories.
Denzil Dias, Vice President and Managing Director of Warner Bros. Discovery India, described the moment as significant for Nolan's fanbase in the country.
"The Odyssey is the first film in cinema history to be shot entirely on IMAX cameras, a milestone Christopher Nolan spent nearly twenty years working toward. On June 8, for the first time in India, Nolan fans will be amongst the first in the world to be able to book their favorite seats alongside their fellow Christopher Nolan fans around the world," Dias said.

The simultaneous rollout reflects the growing importance of the Indian theatrical market, particularly for premium large-format releases.
Ticket demand overwhelms US platforms
The enthusiasm surrounding the film became evident when ticket sales opened in the United States on June 4.
According to multiple reports, major ticketing platforms experienced technical issues and lengthy virtual queues as fans rushed to reserve seats. The situation escalated further when tickets began appearing on resale websites at dramatically inflated prices.
One premium IMAX 70mm ticket was reportedly listed for $1,500, highlighting the intense demand for what is already being described as one of the most anticipated cinematic events of the year.
The frenzy underscores Christopher Nolan's unique ability to draw audiences to theatres, particularly for IMAX presentations.
A landmark project for IMAX cinema
Nolan has long been one of IMAX's strongest advocates, incorporating the format into films such as The Dark Knight, Dunkirk, Interstellar and Oppenheimer.

With The Odyssey, the filmmaker has taken the relationship a step further by shooting the entire feature using IMAX cameras, a technical achievement that required years of development and collaboration with the format's engineers.
The film follows Odysseus, the King of Ithaca, on his perilous journey home following the Trojan War. Along the way, he faces mythical creatures, divine intervention and life-threatening challenges.
Matt Damon leads the cast as Odysseus, joined by Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Charlize Theron and Jon Bernthal. As anticipation builds ahead of its release, India's early booking access places local audiences at the centre of a global cinematic event that is already generating unprecedented demand.
