Karan Johar, a renowned filmmaker, has reviewed the movie The Devil Wears Prada 2. He believes that the film manages to create an equilibrium between nostalgia and modernity. The film stars Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt, and was premiered in theaters on May 1.

“Nostalgia is powerful… it keeps the present hopeful,” he wrote, adding that his memory of watching the original remains deeply personal.
‘This sequel speaks of our times’
Johar highlighted that the movie does not compare itself to the original but establishes its uniqueness through the portrayal of the present realities.
The movie is portrayed by him as a comment on how the media landscape has changed with the increasing dominance of digital media and declining importance of print journalism.
Moreover, according to Johar, it also addresses the conflict that exists between imagination and capitalism in addition to transition from ideation-based work to system-based work.
“All that in a comedy? Yes… that’s the strength of Part 2—it makes you think of the travesty of our times,” he wrote.
Characters evolve with time
In addition, Johar discussed how the movie features the main characters with a new set of emotions attached to them. It was stated by Johar that Miranda Priestly now seems more vulnerable whereas Andy Sachs seems more optimistic than ever before. Emily and Nigel, according to Johar, add some more life into the plot.
