A simmering dispute between neighbours took a tragic turn in Alaknanda on Friday evening when a 60-year-old man and his son were stabbed to death inside a residential complex. The shocking incident, which unfolded in Tara Apartments, has left the otherwise quiet neighbourhood shaken and raised fresh concerns about escalating conflicts within urban residential spaces.
According to The Hindustan Times, the victims were inside their home when the accused, who lives in the same complex, called them outside. What began as a verbal exchange quickly spiralled into violence. The accused allegedly attacked the father, his son Karan Sood, and a relative with a sharp weapon, inflicting multiple injuries before fleeing the scene. While the father and son succumbed to their injuries, the third victim survived and is currently undergoing treatment.
Long-standing tensions behind the attack
Preliminary investigations suggest that the attack was the result of a prolonged dispute between the two families. Police officials indicated that disagreements over financial matters and parking arrangements had been ongoing for nearly a year. These recurring conflicts are believed to have created deep resentment, eventually culminating in the fatal confrontation.
Residents of the complex confirmed that arguments between the families were not uncommon, though few anticipated that the situation would escalate to such an extreme level. The incident has highlighted how unresolved personal disputes, when left unchecked, can spiral into serious violence.
Chaos and delays in medical response
Eyewitness accounts point to chaotic scenes immediately after the attack. Neighbours rushed to help the victims, attempting to arrange transport and medical assistance as quickly as possible. One resident said he personally drove the injured son to a nearby hospital after waiting for emergency services.
There were also allegations that the victims did not receive immediate attention at the first hospital they were taken to, leading to a delay in treatment. They were later shifted to another medical facility, but by then it was too late for the father and son. While these claims have not been officially confirmed, they have added to the distress among residents already shaken by the incident.

Police investigation and search for accused
Delhi Police have identified the accused and launched a manhunt to trace him. Multiple teams have been deployed, and CCTV footage from the apartment complex and surrounding areas is being analysed to track his movements. The crime scene was quickly secured, with forensic teams collecting evidence to piece together the sequence of events. Police officials have assured that the accused will be apprehended soon and that strict action will follow.
In the aftermath, an uneasy calm has settled over the locality. Many residents have chosen to remain indoors, reflecting the fear and uncertainty that such incidents leave behind. The tragedy serves as a stark reminder of how quickly everyday disputes can escalate into irreversible loss, leaving families and communities grappling with the consequences.
