Nida Khan, an accused in the alleged forced religious conversion case linked to Tata Consultancy Services’ Nashik unit, has remained untraceable for nearly a week, even as her husband’s changing statements have added fresh uncertainty to the investigation.

Police questioned her husband, Moin Naveed Iqbal Khan, who first said she left their home on April 14 and was staying with a relative. When officers reached the address, they found the house locked, and both Khan’s and the relative’s phones were switched off.

He later told police that Khan’s aunt, Noorie Sheikh, had taken her to Nashik earlier this week. He now claims he does not know her current location. Investigators are continuing efforts to trace her.

What sparked the case?

The case surfaced after a woman employee at the TCS Nashik branch accused Danish Sheikh of entering into a physical relationship with her on the promise of marriage in 2022, despite already being married. Police said Nida Khan, who is Danish Sheikh’s sister, allegedly made remarks against the complainant’s faith and tried to pressure her into converting.

It is also alleged that Khan, along with Tausif Akhtar, concealed Danish Sheikh’s marital status from the complainant.

More women come forward, arrests made

As the probe progressed, seven more women came forward alleging mental and sexual harassment by senior employees, claiming their complaints were ignored by the HR department. These incidents are said to have occurred between February 2022 and March 2026.

So far, seven employees, including six men and a woman, the HR head, have been arrested in connection with the case.

TCS clarifies role, orders internal review

Khan was suspended by TCS on April 9. The company clarified that she was a process associate and not part of HR or recruitment, and said it had not received complaints of this nature through its internal ethics or POSH channels.

TCS also announced the formation of an oversight panel led by independent director Keki Mistry and said external entities would be involved in reviewing the matter.

Meanwhile, Khan’s family has approached a Nashik court seeking anticipatory bail, stating that she is pregnant. Her lawyer, Baba Sayyed, said, “There are no serious allegations against Nida. She had only discussed the matter; she did not perform the crime. She is not reachable at this point.”
