In another suspected dowry death case, a 24-year-old social media influencer was found dead at her in-laws’ residence in Lucknow, with her family alleging dowry harassment and murder.

Due to the victim's relatives' demands for a car and more dowry, there was ongoing physical and psychological abuse. Her husband and five members of his family have been charged with dowry death by the police, and an investigation is currently underway, per a report by NDTV.
Claims of abuse and harassment
Mansi, a Kanpur citizen, married social media celebrity Sagar Rajput in 2024, according to the FIR. Per NDTV report, Rajput has about eight lakh Instagram followers. Mansi's family claimed to have given household items as well as ₹7 lakh in cash at the marriage. However, they alleged that the groom's family was still unhappy and kept asking for an extra payment in the form of a car.
According to the family, Mansi was tortured both physically and mentally and constantly made fun of for bringing insufficient dowry. They claimed that after she told them about her experience, they made multiple trips to Lucknow in the hope of settling the conflict.
Family alleges murder
On Saturday, Mansi’s family came to know that she had committed suicide. However, they claimed she was killed and that her body was hanged in order to create the belief that she had committed suicide.

Police initiated a dowry killing investigation against Sagar Rajput, his father Rajesh, brother Anu, sisters Barkha and Chandni, and biological aunt Asha based on a written complaint submitted by the victim's family. Rajput is being interrogated after he is in custody.
