Malayalam actor Dillip was acquitted along with three others on Monday. Six other people were also found guilty in the case of assaulting a South Indian actress in the year 2017. The Kerala Government mentioned that it will appeal against the verdict. The State Law Minister, P. Rajeev, noted that the survivor did not get complete justice from this verdict.
The verdict of the court
According to the PTI, State Law Minister P. Rajeev mentioned, "Though those who were directly involved in the crime were found guilty by the court, it was not the verdict everyone expected," Rajeev told reporters shortly after the court acquitted the actor in the case. "The state government has always stood strongly with the survivor, and that will be continued." He pointed to the prosecution's strong stand, even submitting a five-volume argument note to the court in accordance with the case. He further mentioned, “The government has decided to go on appeal against the verdict. I have already spoken to the Chief Minister and the DGP regarding this matter. The prosecution has been directed to initiate further proceedings in this regard."

The film industry’s split over the verdict
The film director, B Unnikrishnan and producer Suresh Kumar expressed their satisfaction over Dileep being acquitted in the case. Suresh spoke about the trauma that has been inculcated in Dileep and his family members all through these years, which was beyond any imagination and now that he has received justice. Unnikrishnan, the general secretary of FEFKA, stated that in view of the judgments, the directors' union has been asked to decide on the membership of Dileep, who was previously suspended in 2017. Several famous actors, like Parvathy Thiruvothu and Rima Kallingal, who share a close relationship with the survivor, have assured her of their continuous support through social media.

The Ernakulam Principal Sessions on Monday have acquitted Dileep in the sensational case. The court has found six others guilty, along with the prime accused, Sunil NS, alias Pulsar Suni, who directly committed the crime. The ten people accused who faced trial are Sunil, Martin Antony, Manikandan B, Vijesh VP, Salim H, Pradeep, Charly Thomas, actor Dileep (real name P. Gopalakrishnan), Sanil Kumar alias Mesthri Sanil, and Sharath. Dileep was arrested on July 10, 2017. It was after the probe team got in; their knowledge about the prime accused, Sunil, had allegedly sent a letter to him from jail.
