The incident came to light around 8 am after neighbours grew suspicious when repeated knocks on the family’s door in Chandan Park went unanswered. Deputy Police Commissioner Hareshwar Swami said a police team rushed to the spot and discovered the bodies inside a ground-floor room.
“The bodies of the woman and the three children were found lying in a pool of blood,” Swami said, adding that the victims appeared to have suffered fatal injuries inflicted with a sharp-edged weapon.
Husband named the prime suspect
Police identified the deceased woman as Anita. Her husband, Munchun Kewat, originally from Patna in Bihar, works as a vegetable vendor at Azadpur Mandi. He is currently missing and has been named the prime suspect in the case.
“The throats of the four appear to have been slit. The crime team and forensic science laboratory team have inspected the scene and collected evidence,” Swami said.
