A man has been arrested in Naya Nagar in Mumbai for questioning two security guards about their religious beliefs before attacking them. Sources from the police have told NDTV that the suspect, Zaib Zuber Ansari, 31, asked the security guards to recite the ‘Kalma’ or ‘Kalima’, referring to the basic tenets of Islam.
This attack happened early on Monday morning, somewhere between 4 am and two security guards who were in an under-construction building close to Wockhardt Hospital.

Victims injured, hospitalised
Mishra and Subroto Sen, the two security guards, sustained serious injuries, but they are now undergoing treatment in the hospital. While Mishra could make it there by himself, Sen required help from someone else, namely, Nayab Sheikh.
Nayab Sheikh lives in the building next to where the incident occurred and was heading back home from his job when he spotted Sen injured in the guards’ booth.
Arrest made in 90 minutes
Ansari was arrested after 90 minutes; the police searched for him through CCTV footage of the locality. The suspect was booked under the case registered at the Naya Nagar Police Station. The charges included attempt to murder and promotion of enmity between two communities. Ansari was later produced before the Court in Thane and sent to police custody till May 4.
ISIS links?
An investigation is being carried out jointly by the police and the State Anti-Terror Squad. The administration appealed to the general public not to entertain any rumours or spread misinformation. Those indulging in such activities would be dealt with strict action, they added.

Now, the mobile phones and other electronic gadgets belonging to Ansari are being examined by the authorities to determine whether it was an isolated incident or part of a larger conspiracy. According to sources, phrases such as 'ISIS', 'lone wolf', 'jihad', and 'Gaza' were mentioned in the notes penned down by Ansari.
Sources also claimed that Ansari had lived in the United States for several years and that members of his family still reside there. He was unable to find a job there and had to return to India.
