A Reddit post by a 21-year-old battling Stage 4 colorectal cancer has left thousands of people in tears online. The young man in his post shared that after two years of treatment and countless chemotherapy sessions, doctors have told him there’s nothing more they can do. His post that was titled “Cancer won, guys, see ya!!!”, captures both his acceptance and heartbreak as he prepares to spend what could be his last Diwali.

The man said that he was diagnosed in 2023 and has been in and out of hospitals ever since. “After more chemotherapy sessions and hospital stays than I can count, the doctors have told me there’s nothing left to try. I probably won’t make it to the end of this year,” he wrote.

He shared that as Diwali approaches, he finds himself quietly watching the world move on. “The lights are already showing up in the streets,” he wrote, adding that by next year, he will “exist just in a memory.”

The 21-year-old said he didn’t know exactly why he was posting. “Maybe just to say it all out loud to leave a small trace before I fade quietly into whatever comes next,” he added.

Netizens show love and hope online

The post has gone viral, with hundreds of Reddit users praying for him, trying to cheer him up with words of encouragement and emotionally supporting him. One such user commented, “Dear God, if miracles happen, please let it happen to this guy.” Another one wrote, “Bhai, I can’t imagine what you’re feeling right now, but I will pray for you.”

Others encouraged him to enjoy each day. Few asked him to spend time with loved ones, take a stroll under the evening sky, and listen to music. "You have all of Reddit rooting for you. Let that cancerous son of a b**ch be defeated." Another user exclaimed.

His post has sparked an online reflection and served as a reminder of how fleeting life is and how hope can endure even in the darkest hours.
