Delhi will see fresh traffic curbs this evening as security arrangements become tighter for the AI Impact Summit 2026 scheduled to take place in Bharat Mandapam. The Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory stating that traffic restrictions will remain in place between 4 pm and 10 pm to facilitate VVIP movement and security arrangements.

Security arrangements will be tightened in view of the high-profile event that will witness Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron in attendance.

Restrictions in central Delhi

The advisory issued by the Delhi Traffic Police states that no vehicle will be allowed to enter Bharat Mandapam after 4 pm. The movement of vehicles in the area of the convention centre and nearby places is expected to be restricted.

Some of the roads that may face traffic curbs include Sardar Patel Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent Road, Teen Murti Marg, Akbar Road, Janpath, Windsor Place, Tees January Marg, Prithvi Raj Road, Rajesh Pilot Marg, and Subrahmaniam Bharti Marg.

Some parts of Mathura Road between Lodhi Flyover and Bhairon Marg, Shanti Path between Satya Marg and Kautilya Marg roundabouts, Africa Avenue, Satya Marg, and Dr Zakir Hussain Marg may also face traffic curbs.

The announcement of traffic curbs comes two days after Delhi witnessed massive traffic jams in central Delhi, east Delhi, and south Delhi due to the movement of vehicles caused by security arrangements for the summit. The traffic jams were further worsened by the wedding season traffic and the ongoing board examinations.

Alternate routes suggested

Commuters are also advised to take alternative routes such as San Martin Marg, Panchsheel Marg, APJ Abdul Kalam Marg, Kamal Ataturk Marg, Aurobindo Marg, Lodhi Road, South Avenue Road, Vandematram Marg, Barapullah Road, Ring Road, Tilak Marg, Ferozshah Road, Rafi Marg, Sansad Marg, and K Kamraj Marg.

The traffic police have asked commuters to plan their journey and follow the instructions given by the traffic police on the ground.

Reportedly, the officials said that the traffic may still be heavy during the summit, especially around Bharat Mandapam and hotels where foreign delegates are staying, and office-goers and commuters should also expect some delays in the evenings.
