A nursery teacher at a private school in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi has been booked after a five-year-old boy was allegedly branded with a hot knife following an incident in which he urinated in his pants after reportedly being denied permission to use the washroom.

The police have registered an FIR against the teacher, the school principal and the management. An investigation is underway.

Child’s family alleges teacher denied washroom permission

According to the complaint filed by the child’s father, the incident took place on July 24. The boy allegedly asked his teacher for permission to use the washroom during class but was refused.

The father alleged that after the child urinated in his pants, the teacher beat him, took him to another room and branded his private parts with a hot knife.

FIR registered, CCTV footage under examination

An FIR was registered on July 25 at the Lalpur-Pandeypur police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) related to voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation.

Station House Officer Atul Kumar Singh said police have seized the CCTV footage and DVR from the school and inspected the kitchen as part of the investigation.

Officials said staff members will also be questioned to establish the sequence of events.

Medical examination conducted

Police said the child’s medical examination has been completed and the investigation has been expedited.

The chief medical superintendent of Pt Deendayal Upadhyay Government District Hospital said he would review the medical findings before commenting on the case.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the facts surrounding the allegations.
