Delhi assembly budget session to begin Monday; focus on 2026–27 roadmap

Delhi Assembly’s budget session will begin Monday, with key financial and policy discussions lined up for the 2026–27 fiscal year.

The Delhi Assembly’s budget session is set to begin on Monday, March 23. The session will open with the presentation of the Economic Survey, which will review the government’s performance over the past year and outline key economic trends.

Session to begin with economic survey

The annual budget for the financial year 2026–27 is expected to be presented the following day. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who also holds the finance portfolio, will present the budget in the House.

Officials have indicated that the overall budget size is likely to remain similar to last year’s outlay. The session is expected to run for multiple days, during which members will discuss financial proposals and other legislative matters.

Apart from the budget presentation, the Assembly will also take up routine proceedings such as Question Hour and Zero Hour, along with discussions on pending reports, including those by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG).

Focus on infrastructure, green push and education

The upcoming budget is likely to focus on key sectors such as infrastructure development, environmental sustainability, and education. Plans may include spending on clean energy, pollution control, water conservation, and biodiversity protection.

The government is expected to allocate funds for improving civic infrastructure and public services, while also strengthening education-related initiatives.
