A disturbing incident from Noida was reported, where a 26-year-old guy was taken into custody after serious allegations of rape under the cover of marriage. The culprit was captured from Madhya Pradesh after reportedly covering his identity and fooling the victim for years.
Police treatment also came under criticism as an outcome of the case, and officers have been suspended for the first failure following crucial laws.
About the horrific case
A 26-year-old guy was taken into custody by Noida Police after a 24-year-old lady accused him of raping her while pretending to be of marriage. Mohammad Ramiz, also known as Vikas Kumar, is the accused.
He lives in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh. Before being taken into custody on Friday, he was employed by a private company in Noida and was located through digital surveillance.
As per a report of India.com, RK Gautam, who is the deputy commissioner of police (central Noida), underlined, “The woman stated in her complaint that she met Ramiz around two years ago on social media. Later, they entered into a live-in relationship, and the suspect faked his religion. When the woman pressured him for marriage, the suspect forced her to convert after revealing his ‘identity’. He even blackmailed and extorted money from her.”

Police action in the case
Police created two teams to look into the case after receiving the report, and they were able to catch the accused. But the investigation additionally highlighted flaws in the first police response.
Despite the victim's specific statement, a station house officer (SHO) and a sub-inspector were suspended on March 19 for not including important portions in the FIR, such as the SC/ST Act and the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act.
The necessary legal sections were ultimately added to the FIR by the police. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Shakti Mohan Avasthy has also been asked to explain what went wrong. Police have stated that the case is still being investigated.
