'No shortage of fuel’: Energy minister Hardeep Puri addresses fuel concerns

India has adequate fuel supplies and there is no immediate shortage despite concerns triggered by the disruption of the Strait of Hormuz, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.

Addressing the House, Puri gave a strong assurance on the availability of key fuels across the country.

"There is no shortage of petrol, diesel, kerosene, ATF or fuel oil. The availability of petrol, diesel, aviation and fuel oil is fully assured," he said.

His statement came amid growing worries about global energy supply after the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime route for crude oil shipments. Read full story

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has uploaded the marksheet for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025 on its official website. Candidates who appeared in the examination can check their marksheet on the official website upsconline.gov.in. The marksheet gives the entire details of the marks obtained in the Mains written examination and the Personality Test (interview). Former IPS officer RN Ravi takes oath, becomes West Bengal’s 22nd Governor

Former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer RN Ravi took oath as the 22nd Governor of West Bengal on Thursday (March 12). The ceremony was held at Lok Bhavan in the morning. The oath of office was administered by the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court, Sujoy Paul. The event was attended by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee, senior minister and Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim, and Left Front chairman Biman Bose. Several senior officials were also present at the ceremony, including Chief Secretary Nandini Chakravorty and senior police officers. India records first widespread heatwave of 2026

India experienced its first widespread heatwave of 2026 on Wednesday, with intense heat sweeping across parts of western and central India. The early spike in temperatures has once again highlighted how the transition between winter and summer is becoming shorter, with spring gradually shrinking in duration. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heatwave to severe heatwave conditions were reported at many places over Gujarat’s Saurashtra and Kutch regions and at a few locations across the Gujarat region. Isolated heatwave conditions were also observed in Vidarbha. India among 16 nations under US trade probe

The Trump administration on Wednesday launched a fresh trade investigation into manufacturing practices in several foreign economies, including India. The move comes after the Supreme Court of the United States struck down the administration’s earlier attempt to impose tariffs by declaring an economic emergency. According to the announcement made by US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, the investigation will be conducted under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974. The provision allows the US government to examine trade practices of other countries and, if necessary, impose import taxes in response to what it considers unfair trade policies. Read full story

Massive fire breaks out at fish market in West Delhi’s Matiala; several shops gutted

A massive fire broke out at a fish market in Matiala near Uttam Nagar in west Delhi around midnight between Wednesday and Thursday, officials said. The blaze quickly spread through the market area, engulfing several shops and prompting an extensive firefighting response.
