Actor Lavanya Tripathi has approached the cybercrime wing of the Hyderabad City Police after allegedly facing abuse and harassment on social media, prompting authorities to launch an investigation into the matter.

According to reports, the South Indian actor filed a complaint with the cybercrime department in Hyderabad after she and her family became targets of abusive and defamatory posts circulating on social media platforms. The complaint alleges that several users shared offensive messages and comments directed not only at the actor but also at her family members.
Who is Lavanya Tripathi?
Lavanya Tripathi is a popular actor primarily known for her work in Telugu cinema. She made her film debut with the Telugu movie Andala Rakshasi in 2012 and later gained recognition through films such as Bhale Bhale Magadivoy and Soggade Chinni Nayana.
She is also widely known for her marriage to Telugu actor Varun Tej, a member of the prominent Konidela family in the South Indian film industry.
Following the complaint, police officials registered a case and began examining digital evidence to identify those responsible for the online harassment. Investigators are reportedly analysing social media accounts, posts and other digital footprints to trace the origin of the abusive content.
Sources in the cybercrime department said authorities are treating the issue seriously as incidents of cyberbullying and online harassment have become increasingly common, particularly against public figures. Meanwhile, they also warned that individuals spreading defamatory or abusive content online could face legal consequences under India’s cyber laws.
While Lavanya Tripathi has not yet issued a detailed public statement about the complaint, people close to the actor said she decided to approach the police after the harassment began affecting her personal and family life.
