A wave of anxiety swept through parts of the capital on Monday morning after at least three prominent schools received bomb threat emails. Within minutes, classrooms were emptied, corridors fell silent, and security personnel fanned out across campuses in a coordinated response. Though no suspicious objects had been found till the latest reports, the scare disrupted classes and examinations, leaving parents and students shaken.
Emergency response across campuses
Among the schools that received threats were Sardar Patel Vidyalaya and Salwan Public School, officials confirmed. An officer from the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) said teams from local police stations, bomb disposal squads, dog squads and the fire department were immediately dispatched after the emails were reported.
According to news agency Press Trust of India, school authorities alerted police and fire officials as soon as the threats were received. The DFS officer said the department had received calls from at least two schools by mid-morning. As a precautionary measure, students and staff were evacuated from the premises while anti-sabotage checks were carried out across classrooms, corridors, playgrounds and surrounding areas. Officials said that nothing suspicious had been detected so far, but detailed inspections were continuing.

Parents informed, exams paused
In a message sent to parents, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya confirmed the evacuation and reassured families about student safety. “This morning the school received a security threat. As a precautionary measure, the police are in school for necessary security measures. All students have been evacuated safely,” the message read.
The school added that junior classes would resume once the campus was declared safe, while senior school examinations would continue after clearance from authorities. Scenes outside the affected schools showed anxious parents gathering near gates as security teams conducted checks. For many, the disruption revived memories of similar threat hoaxes reported in the city over the past year.

While the threats appear to be part of a pattern of hoax emails that have targeted institutions in recent months, authorities are treating the matter with utmost seriousness. With no suspicious materials found so far, the focus remains on ensuring student safety and tracing the source of the emails. As investigations continue, the incident underscores the fragile sense of normalcy schools must navigate in an age of digital threats and rapid misinformation.
