India’s national carrier Air India has cancelled a number of its scheduled flights for March 1, 2026. The reason cited for the cancellation of flights is security concerns in the wake of rising tensions in West Asia after the US and Israel carried out strikes in Iran.

The Air India flights scheduled for March 1, 2026, have been cancelled as a result of the prevailing security scenario in West Asia. The announcement was made late on Saturday. In a statement issued in this connection, an Air India spokesperson said that the Air India flights scheduled for March 1 have been cancelled as a precautionary measure in view of the prevailing security scenario in West Asia. The spokesperson said that Air India was always monitoring the security scenario and was taking steps in this connection.

"In the interest of the safety and security of our guests and staff, Air India has cancelled the following flights scheduled on 01 March 2026," the airline said.

Flights affected by the cancellations

Air India said the affected services include multiple routes between India and London. Flights between Delhi and London Heathrow, Mumbai and London Heathrow, and Amritsar and London Gatwick scheduled for March 1 have been cancelled.

Several flights connecting India with major cities in North America and Europe have also been suspended for the day. These include services from Delhi and Mumbai to New York (JFK), Newark, Chicago (via Vienna), Toronto (via Vienna), Frankfurt and Paris.

Passengers booked on the affected flights have been advised to check the airline’s official website or contact customer support for updated travel information.

Security situation triggers airline review

The decision comes amid rising tensions across the Middle East after a series of military developments involving the United States, Israel and Iran. Several countries in the region have reported airspace restrictions, flight diversions and heightened security alerts in recent days.

Airlines operating international routes through West Asian air corridors have begun reviewing their flight schedules and routes to minimise risk. Long-haul flights between India, Europe and North America often pass through Middle Eastern airspace, making them sensitive to regional instability.

Air India said it will continue to assess the situation and may issue further updates depending on security advisories and operational conditions.

Passengers are advised to monitor official airline communication and allow additional time for travel planning as the situation evolves.
