India on Tuesday formally launched the logo and official website for its BRICS Presidency 2026, marking the beginning of preparations for its upcoming chairmanship of the multilateral grouping. The launch event was held in the national capital and attended by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who outlined Indiaâs priorities and vision for the year-long presidency.
Unveiling the logo, Jaishankar said it reflects both Indiaâs cultural identity and the collective spirit of the BRICS grouping. The design draws inspiration from the lotus, Indiaâs national flower, symbolising growth and renewal. At the centre of the logo, the inner petals form two hands joined in a namaste, a gesture associated with respect and dialogue.

The five petals are rendered in colours representing the founding BRICS members namely Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa that showcased unity among countries with diverse political, economic and cultural backgrounds.
Focus on resilience, innovation and sustainability
Speaking at the event, Jaishankar said Indiaâs BRICS chairship would aim to âbring together the potential of BRICS countries for greater global welfareâ. He noted that India would assume the presidency at a significant juncture, as the grouping completes 20 years since its inception.
Referring to the newly launched BRICS India website, the external affairs minister said it would function as a common digital platform during Indiaâs chairship. The website will host information on meetings, initiatives and outcomes, while enabling timely dissemination of updates and greater engagement with stakeholders.

Jaishankar said Indiaâs approach to BRICS in 2026 would be guided by four broad priorities, resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability. These, he explained, would provide a balanced framework across the groupingâs three pillars: political and security cooperation, economic and financial collaboration, and cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
He added that over the years BRICS has evolved into a major platform for cooperation among emerging markets and developing economies, expanding its agenda and membership while retaining a focus on people-centric development and practical outcomes.
India is set to formally assume the BRICS chair in 2026, with a series of ministerial meetings, working group sessions and a leadersâ summit expected to be held during the year.
