Welcoming the Centre's direction to halt 10-minute deliveries, Rajya Sabha MP and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Raghav Chadha said that "we have won".

He called it a big win for the gig workers who have been protesting work and pay conditions.

In a post on X, Chadha thanked the Central government for its "compassionate intervention" and called it a much-needed step. "Satyamev Jayate. Together, we have won.. I am deeply grateful to the Central Government for its timely, decisive and compassionate intervention in enforcing the removal of the “10-minute delivery” branding from quick-commerce platforms," he said.

'The pressure is real...'

The Rajya Sabha MP said that when 10-minute delivery is written on the delivery boy's t-shirt, it puts immense pressure on them to make deliveries within that stipulated time. "This is a much needed step because when “10 minutes” is printed on a rider’s tshirt/ jacket/ bag and a timer runs on the customer’s screen, the pressure is real, constant, and dangerous," Chadha wrote.

He added, "This step will help ensure safety of the delivery riders, and everyone who shares our roads."

His saga with gig workers

Raghav Chadha mentioned how he has been vocal about the issues of gig workers over the past several months, spending New Year's Eve with them and also hosting lunch for a delivery boy to better understand the problems being faced by them.

"Over the past months, I have spoken to hundreds of delivery partners. Many are overworked, underpaid and risking their life to fulfil an unrealistic promise," Chadha said.

In the end, he thanked people for standing with them in their quest to ensure better working conditions for gig workers. "I thank every citizen who stood with us - you stood firmly on the side of human life, safety & dignity. And to every gig worker - you’re not alone, we’re all with you," the AAP leader concluded.
