As the holy month of Ramadan continues, Muslims across India will prepare to observe another day of fasting on March 5, 2026. The fast will begin before dawn with Sehri (Suhoor) and conclude at sunset with Iftar. Since sunrise and sunset vary across regions, timings will differ slightly from city to city. Here is a look at the approximate schedule for major urban centres.

City-wise sehri and iftar timings

In Delhi, Sehri is expected to end at 5:23 AM, while Iftar will be observed at 6:25 PM. In Lucknow, devotees will conclude Sehri at 5:09 AM and break their fast at 6:11 PM.

Southern cities will follow slightly varied schedules. In Hyderabad, Sehri will end at 5:19 AM, and Iftar will take place at 6:25 PM. Bengaluru is expected to record Sehri around 5:23 AM and Iftar at approximately 6:29 PM, while Chennai will see Sehri at about 5:18 AM and Iftar near 6:16 PM.

In western India, Mumbai will have Sehri at 5:42 AM and Iftar at 6:26 PM. Pune is likely to observe Sehri between 5:40 AM and 5:45 AM, with Iftar between 6:37 PM and 6:42 PM.

Meanwhile, in eastern India, Kolkata is expected to record Sehri at approximately 5:19 AM and Iftar around 6:27 PM.

These timings are based on commonly followed Ramadan calendars and astronomical calculations for sunrise and sunset. Minor variations of a few minutes may occur depending on locality, mosque announcements and calculation methods.

Why timings differ

Sehri and Iftar are determined by local dawn (Fajr) and sunset (Maghrib) times. Because India spans multiple longitudes, eastern cities experience sunrise and sunset earlier than western ones. As Ramadan progresses, daily timings will also shift slightly due to the changing position of the sun.

With March 5 marking another day of devotion and discipline, accurate Sehri and Iftar timings will help the faithful observe their fast correctly. Worshippers are advised to verify exact local prayer times through trusted mosque notices or reliable Ramadan timetables to ensure precision in their observance.
