Holi was celebrated at the Indian Consulate in Shanghai on Wednesday, where officials also announced the launch of direct flights between Kolkata and Shanghai from March 29.
The festival of colours was observed at the consulate premises with coloured powder and sweets. According to posts shared on the consulate's official X handle, Consul General Pratik Mathur said members of the consulate took part in the celebrations.
During the event, Mathur announced that IndiGo will start daily direct flights between Kolkata and Shanghai from March 29. The service will operate throughout the week.

Flights resume after five years
Direct flight services between India and China had been suspended after the Galwan clash. Diplomatic engagement in recent months has led to a gradual improvement in bilateral ties.

India's participation in last year's Shanghai summit was followed by further discussions between Beijing and New Delhi. In October, the Ministry of External Affairs announced that flight services between the two countries would resume after a gap of five years.
The new Kolkata-Shanghai route marks a significant step in restoring air connectivity.
Cultural programme announced
The consulate also announced a cultural programme to be held on March 7 at the Shanghai Cultural Center. The event aims to showcase Indian culture and arts in China.

Organisers said members of the Indian community in China will have the opportunity to attend and experience classical music performances.
The announcements were made as part of the Holi celebration programme at the consulate. Officials described the event as a celebration of cultural ties and renewed connectivity between the two countries.
