The United States has deported 1,076 Indian nationals so far in 2026, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Friday, as President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown continued to drive removals of undocumented migrants and visa violators.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal gave the figure at a media briefing in New Delhi and compared it with the 3,567 Indians deported in 2025.
“I can share that 1,076 Indian nationals have been deported from the US so far this year. Last year, that number was 3,567,” he said.

The deported group includes people with undocumented status and visa violations, according to NDTV Profit.
India and the US are continuing regular engagement on migration matters, with the emphasis on curbing illegal migration while protecting lawful travel and movement.
Jaiswal said the two sides are discussing migration and mobility and that the objective is to stop illegal migration without affecting legal migration.

Jaiswal described the talks as “continuous dialogue” with the US on migration and mobility, adding that legal migration should be facilitated while illegal migration is curbed.
The latest figure comes against the backdrop of stepped-up deportation action by US authorities after Trump returned to office.
The 2025 figure of 3,567 deported Indians was the highest in 16 years, according to government figures cited in Parliament last year.
Indian authorities scrutinize lists of people identified for deportation and accept only those whose nationality is confirmed through verification.
