India launches e-B-4 Production Investment Visa for Chinese businessmen - How to apply

India has introduced an e-Production Investment Visa (e-B-4) for Chinese businessmen, allowing short-term travel for specific business activities such as installation, production, and training, as part of efforts to improve India-China economic ties.

India has launched an e-Production Investment Visa, particularly for Chinese businessmen. The visa, named e-B-4, can be used by the neighbouring country's businessmen to travel to India for a specified array of business-related works, which include installation and equipment commissioning, PTI reported.

Specifications of the visa

The Indian Embassy in Beijing has informed through an advisory that the e-B-4 Visa can be applied online. There would be no need to visit the embassy or agents. The visa was introduced on January 1. Businessmen will get their visas within 45-50 days, and it will provide permission to stay in India for a maximum of six months.

Chinese businessmen will be able to avail the visa for an array of business-related works. This includes installation and commissioning, senior management and executives, production, plant design and bring-up, quality check and essential maintenance, training, supply chain development for empanelling vendors, IT and ERP ramp-up, PTI reported.

How to apply?

Indian companies willing to have Chinese nationals in India on the special visa will be able to apply through registration on DPIIT’s NSWS (National Single Window System) portal at https://www.nsws.gov.in/ under the tab 'Login-Business User Login'.

Applicants will be able to apply for the same on https://indianvisaonline.gov.in under the tab 'For e-Visa by Bureau of Immigration', the advisory noted. The application has to be done with mandatory supporting documents.
