Indian security forces and terrorists, allegedly sponsored by Pakistan, are currently engaged in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir. Hindustan Times reported that the conflict between the two sides is underway in a remote village in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district.
Encounter underway
The terrorists on target are associated with the Jaish-e-Mohammed, HT reported. They have taken cover and are engaging in a gunfight with the security forces. Indian Army officials told HT that the forces had received information regarding the presence of 2-3 terrorists at the Kahog village of Billawar, following which a search operation was initiated.

Bhim Sen Tuti, Inspector General of Police, Jammu, posted on X, "SOG (Special Operations Group) Kathua has engaged terrorists in the forest of Kamadh Nullah, Kathua."
The SOG is continuing its joint operation against the terrorists along with CRPF teams despite darkness, dense forest, and difficult terrain. Locals spotted a terrorist around 4 PM at Kamad Nallah in the Billawar police station area. Sources said it could be the same terrorist who was seen earlier in the day at Dhannu Parole, PTI reported.

Operation being closely monitored
This operation is the first of its kind in 2026. The entire operation is being closely monitored by IG Jammu Bhim Sen Tuti and SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma, India TV reported.
It is being reported that firing is underway from both sides. The operation is still on, and the situation is being closely monitored by the Indian authorities.
