The Unnao rape case victim and her mother approached Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, seeking help to get justice. On Tuesday, the Delhi High Court granted a conditional stay on the sentence of former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who was convicted in the Unnao rape case. In protest, the victim, her mother, and social activist Yogita Bhayana sat on a dharna in front of the India Gate in Delhi from Tuesday night. Allegedly, the Delhi Police then forcibly removed them from the protest site. On Wednesday evening, the victim and her mother met with Rahul Gandhi, at Sonia Gandhi's residence at 10 Janpath.

What did the victim say?
Before meeting Rahul Gandhi, the victim told the media, "We just want to meet them and tell them what we are going through. I also want to meet the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister, and President Murmu. I want justice..."
The victim's mother also vented her anger, saying, "All daughters of the country are now afraid that they will be raped, and the criminals will get away. They have confined us to our homes. They have ordered us to stay 5 kilometers away. What will that achieve? I have faith in the Supreme Court that I hope to get justice there."

Alleged police high-handedness
Social activist Yogita Bhayana, who stood by the Unnao victim, burst out in anger and questioned, "What kind of justice is this?" Notably, they wanted to hold a press conference in front of Mandi House. But the CRPF allegedly prevented this and did not allow them to get off the bus at that location. The victim's mother, crying at such treatment, said, "We have not received justice. They are taking my daughter away like a prisoner. These security personnel want to kill us. Kuldeep Sengar's bail should be cancelled. We are not safe."
