A strong start has set the tone for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the new IPL season. The team opened their campaign with a win against Sunrisers Hyderabad, leaving fans excited and hopeful.
The performance stood out for its balance. Both batting and bowling clicked well, giving RCB an early edge. Many supporters are already talking about a possible title run this season.
Opener Phil Salt pointed to mentor Dinesh Karthik as a key reason behind the team’s improvement. Karthik, who joined as mentor after retiring, has been working closely with the squad since last season.
Karthik’s guidance making a difference
Players have credited Karthik for bringing clarity and confidence to the team. His experience seems to be helping RCB stay calm and organised on the field.
After the match, Karthik posted on social media with the caption "Perfect start," sharing photos of some players. However, Salt’s effort in the field was missing from the post.
Salt reacted in a light-hearted way in the comments, which quickly caught fans’ attention. At the same time, Tim David commented "Mastermind," highlighting Karthik’s impact.

Salt’s catch changes the game
The turning point came when Ishan Kishan was batting strongly. He had scored 80 runs off 38 balls and looked set to take the game away. Salt, however, pulled off a stunning one-handed diving catch at point, shifting the momentum back to RCB. The effort is already being counted among the best catches of the season.
With the bat, Salt could not contribute much and got out early in the chase of 202. The innings was then steadied by Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal.

Padikkal played aggressively, while Kohli built the innings in his usual composed style. RCB scored 76 runs in the powerplay and crossed 100 within nine overs, setting up a comfortable win.
