Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday addressed complaints over non-receipt of funds under the 'Banglar Yuva Sathi' scheme, assuring that all eligible beneficiaries will receive the money after corrections. She spoke on the issue at a public meeting in Manbazar.
The scheme provides Rs. 1,500 to beneficiaries. However, several applicants have reported problems receiving the amount despite applying.
CM explains reason for payment issues
Speaking at the meeting, Mamata Banerjee said the issue was caused by duplicate applications and assured that corrective steps are being taken.
"Those who applied but did not receive the money, their applications have become duplicates. After this, they will be called, and it will be corrected. Everyone will receive this money."

The state government had announced the 'Yuva Sathi' scheme in its interim budget. Although disbursal was scheduled to begin on April 1, funds started being credited from March 7.
Soon after, complaints began to surface. Some applicants said they did not receive money despite applying. Others claimed they received SMS notifications confirming payment, but the amount was not credited to their bank accounts. In some cases, applicants reported receiving failure messages.
Political reactions and CM's response
The scheme has also triggered political reactions. Some critics have referred to the Rs. 1,500 assistance as "begging money," alleging that the government is trying to influence voters instead of creating jobs.
Opposition parties, including the BJP, have also raised the issue and promised to increase the amount if voted to power.

Responding to the criticism, Mamata Banerjee said, "Yuva Sathi is not begging or allowance. Those who are applying will also have livelihoods one day. This is pocket money. So that they can stand on their own feet."
The Chief Minister's remarks come amid ongoing complaints from beneficiaries, with the administration now focusing on resolving technical issues and ensuring proper disbursal of funds.
