Amazon has inaugurated its second-largest office in Asia and its second-largest single-building corporate campus globally in Bengaluru, underscoring India’s growing role in the company’s global operations and long-term investment strategy.
The 12-storey campus, spread across 1.1 million square feet, is located on a five-acre site around 15 km from Kempegowda International Airport. The facility was formally inaugurated on February 23 by Karnataka’s Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, Dr. M.B. Patil.
Once fully operational, the new office will accommodate more than 7,000 employees working across ecommerce, payments, operations, technology and seller services.

A campus designed for scale and collaboration
Amazon’s new Bengaluru campus has been designed as a single-building workspace with flexible "neighbourhood-style" layouts. According to details shared at the inauguration, the facility includes meeting rooms, huddle spaces, breakout zones and large event areas capable of hosting over 200 people at a time.
Employees will also have access to recreation and wellness facilities, including basketball and pickleball courts, an amphitheatre, landscaped lawns and outdoor community spaces. Cafeterias spread across two floors will serve a range of international cuisines.
Bengaluru’s central role in Amazon’s India operations
Welcoming the expansion, Dr. Patil said the new campus reflects India’s emergence as a global technology hub and is expected to strengthen Karnataka’s innovation ecosystem by generating high-quality jobs.
Samir Kumar, Country Manager, Amazon India, said Bengaluru continues to be a critical base for the company. "The city has been home to some of our earliest technology and business teams, and it remains a key hub for innovation and talent," he said.
Amazon has already invested over $40 billion in India and has committed an additional $35 billion by 2030. The company currently operates 10 corporate offices, seven fulfilment centres, three sort centres and more than 130 last-mile delivery stations across Karnataka alone. Over 80,000 sellers from the state are active on Amazon.in.

The Bengaluru campus incorporates multiple sustainability measures aligned with Amazon’s global pledge to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. These include responsible sourcing of construction materials, reuse of office assets and the deployment of high-efficiency systems to reduce both operational and embodied carbon.
The expansion comes at a time when India is positioning itself as a major centre for global technology operations, with multinational firms increasingly consolidating engineering, product development and support functions in the country.
