The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the results of the Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS) I, 2026. A total of 8,826 candidates have qualified in the written examination and will now move to the next stage of the selection process, the Services Selection Board (SSB) interview conducted by the Ministry of Defence.

The CDS 1 examination was conducted on April 12, 2026, for admission to several prestigious defence training academies, including the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), Air Force Academy (AFA), and Officers Training Academy (OTA).
Candidates who appeared for the examination can check their results on the official UPSC website. The result has been released in PDF format containing the roll numbers of shortlisted candidates.
Qualified candidates will now have to appear for the SSB interview round, which includes psychological tests, group tasks, personal interviews and medical examinations. Reports stated that candidates opting for IMA and OTA as their first preference must register themselves online on the Indian Army recruiting website within two weeks of the written result announcement to receive SSB call-up details.

Candidates should know
According to the official notification, candidates selected for IMA and INA courses beginning in January 2027 must submit required documents related to age and educational qualifications by January 1, 2027. Candidates applying for the Air Force Academy must complete document submission by November 13, 2026, while the last date for OTA SSC courses is April 1, 2027.
UPSC has clarified that the candidature of all shortlisted candidates remains provisional until verification of documents and eligibility criteria is completed. Candidates have also been advised not to send original certificates directly to the commission.
