Everyone has something or the other to worry about. But certain people worry throughout the day. They are always in an anxious state for one reason or the other. In some cases, they may be in a state of anxiety when everything in their life may be just perfect. People like these generally suffer from Generalised Anxiety Disorder. What's surprising about these people is that, in most instances, the things that they are worried about never really happen. In 91.4% of cases, their predictions are incorrect.

A research paper shown in the National Library of Medicine finds that 91.4% of those concerns rarely happen. For example, you can be worried that you are going to fail an exam, but what if you get fewer marks? However, you still pass. People with GAD are going to find that, mostly, their forecasts are incorrect about something unpleasant happening to them. Sometimes, they have completely irrational worries.

What did the research find?

The researchers performed an Ecological Momentary Assessment on 29 patients with GAD. The respondents were asked to report their concerns throughout the day, and at night, researchers validated what had been happening. After the 30th day of consecutive assessment, it was found that the majority of what individuals are worried about did not occur. It means, in fact, your odds for failing are 91.4%.

Generalised Anxiety Disorder: Symptoms and signs

Generalised anxiety disorder often creates anxiety. People with GAD will always worry about something. They will have anxiety all day long without even realising the reason for the anxiety. They will feel as though they have no control, have a mind flooded with negative ideas, become confused, and have a racing heartbeat. Several reasons may lead a person to develop GAD. This condition has chronic symptoms that can’t be managed by the person affected on their own. Sometimes, medications and cognitive therapy may work very effectively.
