Dubai has announced 48-hour processing for single-entry tourist visas. Here's everything travellers need to know about visa fees, required documents and the application process.

Travellers planning a visit to Dubai may soon find it easier to secure entry permits, with authorities announcing that tourist visas will now be processed within 48 working hours once all required documents have been submitted.

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai said the new timeline applies to single-entry tourist visas and is intended to simplify travel arrangements for tourists, business visitors and families planning trips to the emirate.

The faster processing system is expected to benefit travellers making last-minute plans while reinforcing Dubai's position as one of the region's leading tourism and business destinations.

Visa options, fees and eligibility

According to the GDRFA, visitors can apply for either a 30-day or 60-day single-entry tourist visa. The 30-day tourist visa is priced at AED 200, while the 60-day option costs AED 300. Applicants will also be required to pay a 5 per cent value-added tax (VAT) and other applicable service charges.

For applicants already present inside the UAE, additional charges apply, including a fee of AED 500, along with Knowledge Dirham and Innovation Dirham charges of AED 10 each. Authorities clarified that no security deposit is required for this category of visa.

Citizens of countries that qualify for visa-on-arrival facilities in the UAE do not need to apply in advance. However, travellers from countries outside that list must obtain a visa before travelling.

Documents required for application

Applicants must submit a recent photograph and a passport copy with a validity of at least six months. In certain cases, travellers from countries including Pakistan, Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan may also be required to provide a copy of their national identity card.

Additional requirements include proof of onward or return travel and valid medical insurance coverage The GDRFA said applications can be submitted through its official website or smart services application.

Applicants must log in to the portal, select the relevant visa category, complete the application form and pay the applicable fees. The announcement comes as Dubai continues efforts to improve visitor services and streamline travel procedures for international travellers.
