Unhealthy eating habits and alcohol consumption lead to fatty liver attacking the body. In most cases, no symptoms are detected in the initial stages. Only the weight keeps increasing. Then gradually, various symptoms like pain in the upper and middle part of the abdomen, vomiting, and fatigue manifest. Without awareness, this fatty liver can lead to liver cirrhosis, fibrosis, ulcers, and even cancer. To get relief from this disease, lifestyle changes must be made. Besides this, a special vitamin can help you.

A new study published in the journal 'Metabolism' says that Vitamin B3 (niacin) can restore liver health. This vitamin can not only prevent fatty liver but also improve liver health. In this study, scientists have identified a special 'molecular switch' called microRNA-93 or miR-93 in the human body. This is responsible for fat accumulation in the liver.

When this molecular switch becomes overactive, liver damage begins. This switch blocks a good gene called SIRT1. This gene helps keep the liver healthy and prevents fat accumulation in the liver. Whenever the SIRT1 gene shuts down, fat starts accumulating in the liver. And from here, the risk of fatty liver and fibrosis develops.

Researchers tested 150 drugs. It was found that Vitamin B3 (niacin) is most effective in reducing miR-93. Using this vitamin reduced the amount of fat in the liver and improved liver function. Additionally, insulin sensitivity increased.

Vitamin B3 is already approved by the Food and Drug Administration and is used to control cholesterol. Experts now hope it will also be used in the treatment of fatty liver. This vitamin reduces fatty liver problems at a faster rate compared to other medications.
