Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha on Friday leaned into the internet’s humour, expressing appreciation for the memes circulating about his recent speeches in the Rajya Sabha. “Loving the memes, you guys are really creative.. keep them coming,” he wrote on X, sharing a meme of his own. The image showed him speaking in the House with a playful caption: “Sir, yeh memes band nahi hone chahiye…” suggesting, in Hindi, that the memes should continue.

His post quickly drew a flood of responses, with users adding their own humorous takes on the issues he has been raising. One meme jokingly had him questioning coconut pricing: “Sir jab paise nariyal pani ke hain to hum pure nariyal ke paise kyun dein.” Others imagined him demanding “four Sundays every week” or calling for the return of classic slapstick films like “Golmal, Heri Pheri, Dhamaal”.

Mixed reactions from social media users

While many users appreciated his willingness to laugh at himself, some also used the moment to raise concerns. A few pointed to his limited visibility in party affairs, especially during key developments such as court relief for party chief Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi liquor policy case. One user wrote, “If you really like it we will flood you with memes, but don't think we will forgive you for… ditching your guru.”

At the same time, several replies praised Chadha for not reacting defensively. Many highlighted that he appeared comfortable with public criticism and humour, rather than resorting to legal threats.

Focus on everyday concerns in Parliament

The 37-year-old Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab has been actively raising consumer-focused issues during the ongoing Budget Session. His speeches have covered urban traffic congestion, which he described as turning cities into “giant parking lots”, as well as telecom policies affecting prepaid users.

Questioning mobile recharge practices, he said, “If a recharge expires, stopping outgoing calls may be understandable. But why are incoming calls stopped as well?” He also raised concerns about unused mobile data lapsing daily, stating, “You are billed for 2GB. You use 1.5GB. The remaining 0.5GB disappears as the day ends. No refund. No rollover. Just gone. This is not an accident. This is policy.”

He extended his focus to packaged food, warning consumers, “You think you're drinking fruit juice? Think again,” and calling out misleading product imagery.

Party response and unanswered questions

Chadha’s growing presence around such issues has earned him both praise and criticism online. Some describe him as a voice for middle-class concerns, while others question whether the topics are too generic.

When asked about his relative absence from party activities, AAP leader Sanjay Singh said, “This only Raghav can answer,” adding that their relationship remains cordial. Chadha has not publicly responded to these remarks.
