JEE Main 2026: NTA issues advisory for Gulf candidates on exam city allotment amid West Asia conflict

Amid West Asia tensions, NTA releases JEE Main 2026 city slips for Kuwait and Dubai candidates while finalising arrangements for Bahrain, offering flexibility to change exam centres.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an advisory regarding the allotment of examination cities for candidates registered from Kuwait, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain for JEE Main 2026 Session 2. The update comes in the backdrop of the ongoing West Asia conflict.

According to the advisory dated March 26, city intimation slips have been released for candidates from Kuwait and Dubai. However, arrangements for candidates in Bahrain are still being finalised. The agency said it is working in coordination with the Embassy of India in Bahrain to ensure smooth conduct of the examination.

ā€œThe city intimation slips for candidates in Kuwait and Dubai have now been released,ā€ the NTA said. ā€œFor the candidates registered from Bahrain, the NTA is in coordination with the Indian Embassy.ā€

Exam schedule and mode

JEE Main 2026 Session 2 will be held in computer-based test mode from April 2 to April 8. The examination will take place at centres across India and in select cities abroad.

Candidates are advised to regularly check official websites for updates, especially those awaiting confirmation of their exam centres.

The NTA has also provided an option for candidates who wish to request a change in their allotted examination city. Candidates can reach out through the helpline number 011-40759000 or email at jeemain@nta.ac.in for assistance.

This step is expected to help students facing difficulties due to the evolving situation in parts of West Asia.

JEE Main as gateway to engineering institutes

JEE Main is the entry point for undergraduate engineering programmes at premier institutions, including the Indian Institutes of Technology, National Institutes of Technology, and other centrally funded technical institutions.

Earlier this year, the NTA conducted Session 1 of JEE Main between January 21 and January 29. Over 13.04 lakh candidates appeared for the exam out of more than 13.5 lakh registrations. The results were announced on February 16, 2026.

Based on performance across both sessions, the top 2.5 lakh candidates will qualify for JEE Advanced, scheduled for May 17, 2026. The exam will be conducted by IIT Roorkee.
