England is all set to take on India in the semi-final of the 2026 T20I World Cup, and before that, captain Harry Brook tagged the match-up against India as a “dream come true.” Praising the challenge, Brook added in the press conference that players wait for these occasions, and this is the main reason players take up sport.
The Wankhede clash is going to be one of the exciting ones as India will look forward to taking revenge for 2022, and England will also aim for their third World Cup. England is mindful of the pressure going into the knockout match, but they are confident in their preparation since they think big games bring out the best in their team.
What has the England skipper said
On Wednesday, in the pre-match press conference, Brook spoke about the plans and mindset before going into the World Cup semi-finals. "It's up there for sure. It's a dream come true for most of us to play in a World Cup semifinal against the home nation on a very iconic ground, so we're all really looking forward to it." Brook also emphasised their recent performance and said, "No, I don't believe that we need a perfect game to win the competition, to be honest."

"The games that we have won have been nowhere near perfect, and we've still managed to get the wins convincingly in some of them and then tight in the other games. But it's just the unity that we've had to be able to get across the line, the belief that everybody's shown throughout the games and the calmness that we've had when the bowlers have stood at the top of the mark," he added.
He also spoke about the confidence and said that, "We're obviously going into the game very confident; we're playing some good cricket, we haven't quite played that perfect performance (yet), and I feel like it's just around the corner. Hopefully, it's tomorrow (Thursday) night, and we go out there, and we just play with freedom, play brave and look to take it to them as much as we can.”
What to expect
The pitch has a hint of grass, but Morne Morkel expects a high-scoring game. Abhishek Sharma scored a magnificent century against this same opposition, at this same venue, a year ago. India will hope for a similar explosion from their opener, but this World Cup has already reaffirmed a well-known fact: ICC tournament games are a very different beast from bilateral encounters.
