Despite India posting a strong total, the hosts delivered a near-perfect batting display to take an unassailable lead.

South Africa’s fearless chase rewrites record books

Chasing 193, South Africa turned the contest into a one-sided affair, thanks to Wolvaardt’s sensational century off just 47 balls. Her innings combined elegance with brute force, dismantling India’s bowling attack across all phases. She was well supported by Sune Luus, who played a composed knock to ensure stability at the other end.

The opening partnership proved decisive, as the duo stitched together a record stand that left India searching for answers. South Africa eventually cruised to 193/1 in just 16.3 overs, completing one of their most dominant chases in T20I history and registering a nine-wicket victory.

India’s strong total overshadowed by bowling woes

Earlier, India seemed to have put themselves in a commanding position with the bat. Shafali Verma provided early momentum, while captain Harmanpreet Kaur anchored the innings with a crucial contribution, guiding the team to 192/4 in 20 overs.

However, the bowling unit failed to capitalize on the scoreboard pressure. Lack of discipline in line and length, combined with missed opportunities in the field, allowed South Africa to dominate from the outset. India struggled particularly in the powerplay, where the game effectively slipped out of their grasp.
