Iran has indicated that it is ready for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, with government officials confirming that all necessary arrangements have been put in place for the national team’s participation. The statement marks a shift from earlier uncertainty, when rising tensions involving the United States and regional conflicts had cast doubt over whether the team would travel for the tournament. Authorities now say preparations have been completed to ensure that the squad can compete effectively on the global stage.

Government confirms preparations

According to Al Jazeera, government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani, the Ministry of Youth and Sports has worked under the direction of the country’s leadership to ensure logistical and operational readiness. The focus has been on providing facilities and support systems that will allow the team to perform without disruption. This includes coordination across institutions to manage travel, accommodation and training requirements ahead of the tournament.

FIFA backs participation

Gianni Infantino has reiterated that Iran is expected to take part, emphasising that qualification and the players’ willingness to compete should remain the guiding factors. He stressed that sport should remain separate from political tensions, reinforcing FIFA’s stance that all qualified teams must be allowed to participate. Iran has already secured its place in the expanded 48-team tournament, which is set to be hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Matches amid a geopolitical backdrop

Iran is scheduled to play its group stage matches in cities such as Los Angeles and Seattle, with a base planned in Arizona. Earlier concerns had been raised about safety and the broader political climate, including remarks by Donald Trump questioning the suitability of hosting the team. Despite these challenges, a fragile ceasefire and ongoing diplomatic efforts appear to have eased immediate concerns, allowing preparations for the tournament to move forward.
