The story of FY2026 for TVS Motor Company is, in many ways, the story of the Apache. In a year where demand rebounded and pricing became more favourable, the brand emerged as the backbone of TVS’ motorcycle business, pushing it to record-breaking numbers and strengthening its grip on the mid-capacity segment.

Apache crosses a major milestone

The TVS Apache series registered sales of 571,376 units in FY2026, marking a strong 28 per cent year-on-year growth. This is the first time the brand has crossed the half-million mark in a single financial year, underlining its consistent appeal among Indian buyers.

The growth also translates into a larger contribution to the company’s overall motorcycle portfolio. Apache alone accounted for around 40 per cent of TVS’ total motorcycle sales, which stood at 1.41 million units for the year. Over its 21-year journey, the brand has now sold close to seven million units, with a significant chunk coming in the last decade.

Market dominance in the 150–200cc space

Apache’s performance has been particularly strong in the 150–200 cc segment, where it commands a 38 per cent market share. This category itself witnessed a revival, crossing 1.5 million units in FY2026 after a dip the previous year.

The brand’s wide lineup has played a key role in this dominance. Models like the RTR 160, RTR 180 and RTR 200 cater to different kinds of riders, from daily commuters to performance enthusiasts. This spread allows TVS to tap into multiple customer segments without diluting brand identity.

At the same time, improved affordability following GST rationalisation has helped boost demand. Lower pricing in the sub-350cc category made these motorcycles more accessible, especially for first-time buyers upgrading from smaller bikes.

Competition heats up but Apache leads

While TVS maintained its leadership, competition in the segment intensified. Bajaj Auto strengthened its position with strong sales from Pulsar and KTM models, securing the second spot. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India also saw a sharp rise, driven by the CB Unicorn 160.

However, not all players kept pace. India Yamaha Motor saw a slight decline in sales, leading to a drop in ranking, while others like Suzuki and Kawasaki faced sharper contractions.

Even with rising competition, Apache’s consistency stands out. It has not only retained its position as TVS’ best-selling motorcycle but also played a central role in reviving growth in its segment. For TVS, FY2026 is proof that a strong, well-positioned product line can still drive scale in a crowded market.
