After weeks of speculation, Liam Rosenior has been announced to become the new head coach of Chelsea. The Premier League club made the appointment public on Tuesday, confirming that Rosenior will take charge of the men’s team. He departs French side Strasbourg, where he had been coaching until now. Notably, both Chelsea and Strasbourg are owned by the Blue-Co organization, making this a transfer within the same ownership network.

Rosenior, 41, brings three years of coaching experience and has managed over 150 matches. During his first season at Strasbourg, he led the team to a top-seven finish in Ligue 1 and fielded France’s under-23 players for the first time. Strasbourg also qualified for a European tournament for the first time in 19 years under his guidance.
Chelsea has signed Rosenior on a six-year contract, extending until 2032. Although he has previously worked with English clubs like Hull City and Derby County, this marks his first Premier League managerial role.
Speaking after his appointment, Rosenior said he feels a responsibility to uphold the identity the club has built over the years. He expressed his desire to create a team that performs at its best in every match and competes for trophies. He added that he is eager to work with the talented players and staff, instilling in them the same hunger for victory that drives him, and said he is proud to be part of the historic club.
Rosenior now faces the challenge of achieving success with Chelsea’s star-studded squad, including players like Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandes, and Estevao.
