Tata Motors is accelerating its electric vehicle push with the updated Punch EV facelift, confirming that deliveries of the compact electric SUV will begin by the end of the month. With larger battery packs, added features and a first-of-its-kind Battery as a Service (BaaS) model, the refreshed Punch EV is positioned to make entry-level electric mobility more accessible.
Deliveries to begin by month-end
Tata Motors has announced that deliveries of the Tata Punch EV facelift will commence by the end of this month. The confirmation brings clarity for early buyers who had been awaiting a delivery timeline following the earlier announcement of introductory prices and specifications. The rollout is expected to begin within days, aligning with the close of the current month.
Pricing and battery as a service model
The introductory price of the Punch EV facelift starts at Rs. 9.69 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai) for customers opting for an outright purchase.
In a significant move, Tata Motors has also introduced a Battery as a Service (BaaS) model for the Punch EV, a first for the company in India. Under this structure, the vehicle is priced from Rs. 6.49 lakh, with the battery cost separated into a subscription-based payment plan. The BaaS model is designed to reduce the initial acquisition cost and provide greater flexibility, potentially attracting buyers who are hesitant about the higher upfront pricing typically associated with electric vehicles.
Larger battery packs and claimed range
One of the most notable upgrades in the 2026 Punch EV facelift is the introduction of two battery pack options: a 30 kWh battery pack and a 40 kWh battery pack. Both variants are paired with a single electric motor setup. Tata claims a driving range of up to 468 km on a single charge, depending on the variant and test conditions. The vehicle also supports 65 kW DC fast charging, enabling quicker top-ups at compatible public charging stations. An illuminated charging status indicator has been added to improve usability, particularly during nighttime charging.
